From surface survey to a thousand metres down.

Nine disciplines, ordered here by the depth each one works at. Every investigation starts at the top of this list and goes as deep as the ground requires.

Surface

Geophysical Surveys

Seismic refraction and electrical resistivity survey to map subsurface layers before a single hole is drilled.

Profile lengths to 500 m Seismograph, resistivity meter, geophone array

Plate Load Testing

Determination of vertical settlement and bearing characteristics of soil at foundation level.

Plate sizes 300 – 750 mm Hydraulic jack, reaction load, dial gauges

In-situ and Laboratory Testing

Field and laboratory determination of soil and rock properties, including permeability and groutability.

Full soil and rock suite Packer assemblies, permeability apparatus, field laboratory

Piling Work

Ground treatment by driven and bored piles, transferring structural load to competent strata.

Grouting Services

Pressure grouting to cut seepage and consolidate rock beneath dams and structures.

Excavation of exploratory drifts and adits into rock to expose strata at full scale.

Borehole Logging

Detailed recording of every formation penetrated, from collar to termination depth.

Deep Tubewells

Drilling, installation and development of deep tubewells for water supply and dewatering.

Surface and underground core drilling in all strata, by diesel or electric powered units.

Core diameter 22 – 300 mm Hydraulic feed core rigs, wireline assemblies, double and triple tube barrels

Owned plant, resident crews, and a record that predates most of the projects it serves.

Rigs are owned rather than hired, so mobilisation to a remote hydro site does not wait on a third party. Crews are permanent, which is what keeps core recovery consistent in bad ground.
